Introducing Forward, Together: A Parent’s Guide to Reclassification
Congratulations to the 1,301 FUSD families whose students achieved reclassification in 2024-25! Behind every reclassification is a story of determination, years of language growth, academic persistence, and family advocacy. This is a powerful milestone for each of these student’s futures.
And we know even more students are close. 1,389 students reached the highest ELPAC level, meaning many may achieve reclassification once the remaining criteria are met. For families still on that journey, clarity matters, and our systems can do more to make that path easier to navigate.

That’s why we created Forward, Together: A Parent’s Guide to Reclassification, designed to help families and their champions understand the reclassification process for English Learners, monitor student progress, and identify ways families can partner with schools to get students the support they need.
For families still striving toward reclassification, Forward, Together is built to be a practical partner – clarifying requirements, surfacing questions to bring to school meetings, and pointing to programs and supports that accelerate progress. The guide includes school data, ELPAC performance trends, and resources to use during teacher conferences or school meetings.
