Building Resilience and Improving Outcomes
Collaboration is essential to community progress, and GO Public Schools continues to drive impactful policy changes to support our families and communities. By celebrating and leveraging our collective strengths, our partnership with Fresno Unified School District and Fresno City College is advancing a shared goal: expanding equitable access to Dual Enrollment opportunities. Our recent meeting at the new West Fresno City College Campus exemplified these efforts, showcasing the tangible progress our partners are making to widen access. The campus, which opened this year and hosted
Dual Enrollment students over the summer, welcomed and inspired students and staff alike with its supportive environment, fueling their excitement for the future.
At our recent quarterly meeting, we reflected on the goals and metrics in the Dual Enrollment Resolution, discussing what success will look like for the 2024-45 school year. We explored implementation plans and accountability measures to meet new metrics, as well as strategies for showcasing this success as California’s third-largest school district. Streamlining data sharing to address the needs of K-12 and higher education institutions is one of many initiatives our partners are prioritizing this year, along with enhancing instructional quality and expanding early college pathways for students.
With authentic parent engagement at the heart of our work, it was natural that family voices would anchor our collaborative efforts. Our engagement strategies serve as a testament to the power of partnership with stakeholders—including families, champions, and community advocates—to bridge communication gaps and advance equitable access to higher education. By understanding the barriers and gaps that families and students face, GO Public Schools is enhancing our partnership efforts to provide tangible tools that make navigating the Dual Enrollment process more accessible and equitable across the region.
FUSD and Dual Enrollment CAT
A recent update from the Fresno Unified School District’s College and Career Readiness department offered a transparent report on the department’s progress since our end-of-year review. Family leaders are eager for this data and student outcome reports to ensure equitable access and sustained resilience. With clear goals in place to advance their department’s impact, our families welcomed the idea of creating a Dual Enrollment guide to address current gaps and challenges faced by students. In response to family interest, GO Public Schools has incorporated digital literacy elements into our Dual Enrollment discussions to help families better navigate partner websites and understand access pathways as their students embark on their higher education journeys.
