Supporting English Learners: GO Public Schools at Washington High School’s Multilingual Night

This holiday season, as we celebrate traditions, we’re reminded of the power of community and culture. This month, GO Public Schools had the opportunity to connect with families and students at Washington High School’s Multilingual Night for Parents in Easton, CA! This community event featured booths and informational sessions aimed at empowering Spanish-speaking families, and GO Public Schools had the honor to host a table and share resources, including our upcoming Family Leadership Program and our new guide, Forward, Together: A Parent’s Guide to Reclassification.
During GO’s presentation, we highlighted the importance of equitable access to information and support systems. Families shared their own experiences navigating resources to support their students’ journey toward reclassification and success in the ELPAC. Their stories reflect the vital work of our family-led English Learner Campaign Action Team (EL CAT), which focuses on overcoming language barriers and advocating for better outcomes for English Learners. Through our EL CAT meetings, we promote English Learner policy awareness and empower families to advocate for their children, fostering equitable access to quality education and supporting positive outcomes for every child.
Partnering with community organizations and schools like Washington High School is essential to building strong, informed, and engaged families. We are grateful to WHS for the opportunity to collaborate and strengthen family leadership in the South Central Valley. Together, we’re building a lasting, supportive network for our children’s success.
