Some may call it a calling or a mission…or even a spark. I see it as the passion that runs through my veins. Since I was a teen, there has been this inkling that we have all been made for so much more. The power of being seen and heard has a great impact on an individual let alone a population of overlooked, misunderstood, or under-resourced communities. Navigating my career was a privileged opportunity for discovery of my passion and aspiration to do more than what was “required” of me.
My own journey wouldn’t have been possible without the support of family, my peers, and those influential teachers, mentors, and spiritual leaders. Life is like a roller coaster – there will be ups and downs. In those down moments it was vital to have my support system encourage me to raise my chin up and keep going. Being seen and heard helped me turn my pain into purpose, into new possibilities. Understanding my own potential and seeing myself through their eyes ignited a power within me.
There is power in understanding, in seeking knowledge and truth, power that opens our minds to perspective, a new view point to transform ourselves into a new lane of progress. With GO our families can have such opportunities. Our intentional and genuine interactions with our families provides us the capacity to engage, elevate their voices, and empower them to step into the light of their own journey. This is what fuels my passion – seeing each individual being empowered.
This is why I GO.
