Forward, Together: A Parents’ Guide to Reclassification (Coming Mid-November)

We are excited to announce the upcoming release of Forward, Together: A Parents’ Guide to Reclassification. This bilingual resource is designed to empower families of English learners (ELs) with the knowledge, tools, and strategies needed to effectively advocate for their children. The guide covers everything from understanding how students are identified as ELs to navigating the reclassification process, offering practical tips for parents along the way.

Whether you’re selecting a multilingual program, supporting students with disabilities, or understanding key local data such as reclassification rates and graduation outcomes, Forward, Together will be a comprehensive and accessible resource. By helping families advocate for their children’s reclassification, the guide also sparks broader conversations on how to improve services for all English learners. Join our email list or follow us on social media (Facebook | Instagram) to make sure you don’t miss the release!

Special Education Community-Led Committee (Launched Mid-October)

We are thrilled to announce the launch of the Special Education Community-Led Committee (CLC). This parent-led initiative offers a supportive space for families navigating the complex special education system. Whether you’re new to the special education journey or an experienced advocate, the CLC provides opportunities to share experiences, learn from others, and drive systemic change across California.

Key goals include building a network of support, identifying shared challenges, and advocating for policy improvements. Additionally, the CLC will offer resources, training, and mentorship opportunities, empowering parents to confidently advocate for their children and improve outcomes for students with disabilities across the state. Fill out this interest form to join GO’s committee!
