What a sight to see thousands of families and students walk the sidewalks and sitting in classrooms of what could be their future educational experience. Feria de Educación aims to empower Spanish-speaking parents and students by providing them with information and resources to help them succeed in California’s educational system. Now in its ninth year, Feria de Educación continues to be a transformational experience for the community.

GO Public Schools was an active participant, with a booth that drew parents and students eager to learn more about GO’s resources. Attendees asked about support for our English Language Learners, explored A-G requirements mature in the Fresno Kids First Report, and discovered ways to stay connected with GO beyond the event.

For GO’s staff, the event was both eye-opening and rewarding. Our South Valley Director, Sade Williams, remarked that it was empowering to connect with families and students on campus grounds, as it gave our families the exposure to the vast opportunities their local community has to offer. The newest member to our GO Fresno Team – a College Corp Fellow and current student at Fresno State –  shared that, “As a student myself, I am amazed in the way Fresno State hosted such an important and valued event like Féria de Educación. I hope to see more events like Féria de Educación because it’s the best way to support families and students in the community.”

The event highlighted the deep community connections, with college students volunteering, community-based organizations offering resources, and special guest appearances in spaces like the Reading Garden, where Fresno State President Dr. Saul Jimenez-Sandoval and Superintendent of Schools Michelle Cowell -Copher read to children.

GO Public Schools continues its commitment to supporting families and helping them thrive by providing valuable resources and fostering partnerships throughout the community. Seeing the excitement in families’ faces as they discover new possibilities is what drives GO’s mission forward.
