We are excited to announce the launch of GO’s new School Finance Resource Library, which seeks to empower families with easy-to-understand, bilingual resources about how school funding works, so that parents and community members can be better advocates for achieving educational equity.

The Resource Library will include adapted GO guides, infographics and tools that help make sense of often dense and complex processes, such as California’s Local Control and Accountability Plan, known as the LCAP. We will be adding new content and resources throughout the year so that families can feel more empowered to engage on these issues as they come up locally and at the state.

Last month, we spotlighted our LCAP Guide, a powerful tool for families who want to understand what goes into a school district’s plans to establish goals, spend funds, and measure progress. It is through the LCAP that parents can most transparently engage with local education planning. It’s daunting work – the documents are long and laden with jargon. Our explainer gives the basics and some specifics about how to get involved, such as joining a Parent Advisory Committee or attending an LCAP town hall.

By providing families with this information, we hope to bolster the accountability and transparency that is needed for real civil engagement around school finances.

Stay tuned as we continue releasing more resources throughout the year!
