Introducing the Future Ready Toolkit: A Guide to Help Students and Families Prepare for the Future

With the fall break just around the corner, my heart is filled with gratitude and excitement as I join the GO Public Schools team as the Southern Central Valley Director. I have been honored to call the Central Valley my home, attending K-12 schools in Fresno County and am thrilled to raise my son in the very community where I grew up.

My professional journey has been a culmination of experiences, including roles with various organizations that share GO’s mission. These experiences have not only given me opportunities to grow personally and professionally, they have also prepared me to lead GO’s impactful work in the South Central Valley.

As I settle into my new role, my initial focus is on listening and connecting with the incredible members of our GO network – families, educators, and community partners. I am eager to learn from each of you, bring my experiences to the table, and work together to create positive change for our students and families.

As we dive into the work together, I’m thrilled to introduce our Future Ready toolkit

Many parents, teachers, counselors, caregivers, and students navigating the way to college and career success can often feel overwhelmed with information and choices. What, exactly, are the available options? When is the best time to get started? We should ask these and other questions because we want to see students succeed.

This toolkit is designed to answer those questions for families and students. Inside you will find need-to-know data about:

  • How are students doing in the Fresno Unified School District?
  • What steps should families take at each stage and age to get children college and career ready?
  • What early post-secondary opportunities and pathways are available to students at each Fresno Unified School District high school?
  • How can families work with their children and the school to ensure they are on the right path?

The future of our community will be determined by the success of our students. We want all young people to find a career that makes them feel connected and engaged. We hope this toolkit is a practical guide to help get all families and students in FUSD to become Future Ready.
